Myrtle Beach, SC
Steven Haines is a successful artist within the Myrtle Beach community who specializes in photorealistic portraits and paintings. His most recent concentration of work has been portraiture using a variety of mediums including pen & ink, pencil, acrylics, pastel and charcoal. Steven is a
participant and major contributor to the planning of regular art shows in the Myrtle Beach area.
Steven grew up in the community of Falls Mills, near the small town of Bluefield, Virginia. Steven’s interest in art led him to start private lessons at ten years old. His enthusiasm led to the development of skills in illustration, pen & ink, acrylics, watercolor and oils. By the time he started Graham High School; Steven had become a favorite portrait artist
among his peers and was the obvious choice for President of the Art Club.
After graduation, Steven’s interest in science fiction and fantasy led him
to become one of the staff artists for the local Starfleet chapter's newsletter. In addition, he worked as a staff airbrush artist for a reprographics firm and a small airbrush shop. After gaining valuable experience within the commercial art world, Steven went into business for himself as a professional artist. Initially, Steven specialized in portraiture and concentrated on developing his own specialized style influenced by Japanese animation.
In 1995, Steven and his wife moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in search of greater opportunities. Since that time, Steven's work has continued to evolve. His attention to detail is what makes Steven's work immediately identifiable. He has remained focused on modern portraiture and specializes
in fantasy themes.
Steven has found commercial success throughout the Myrtle Beach area by completing full-room murals of both realistic landscapes and fantasy playroom themes. Within his portrait works, Steven has experimented with various mediums to capture the beauty of his subjects in a way that
expresses their essence as well as their look. His work is regularly displayed at The Social, Palmetto Studios and Roundtable Art Group events.
